Opening Sale of Store Lambs - 31.07.24
On Wednesday Penrith & District Farmers Mart LLP held their opening fortnightly sale of 800 Store Lambs.
This also included a pre-sale show, expertly judged by Mr R Carrick, Irishopeburn, who awarded Champion honours to K M Wildman, Clickham Cottage, with her pen of 10 Continental lambs. This pen of lambs topped the sale at £135 per head. Reserve honours went to Muncaster Home Farms, and sold for £115 per head.
Messrs J G & H Miller, Smithy Garth, sold a single Texel lamb at £130, this home’s run of 21 Texel lambs sold to average £113.
Mule lambs topped at £108 for a pen of 8 from G A Harrison, Owl Barn. Today’s first prize pen of Mule lambs went to Mr E Watts, Todd Farm, and sold for £101. The second placed pen of Mules came from Messrs R W & J H Emmott, Wythop Hall Farm, and sold for £96.
Suffolk lambs topped at £103 for long-keep lambs from Mr G Fisher, Midtown Farm. Swale tup lambs realised £60 for a pen of 17 from Mr G A Lambert, Fell View.
