On Monday, Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of 126 store cattle.
A superb show of quality stock met an exceptionally strong trade, with demand evident across all classes and prices continuing to rise.
Leading the day’s trade at £2,515 was an outstanding 24-month-old Limousin-cross bullock from regular supporters Messrs M Ridsdale & Son, Yew Tree Farm. The same home also topped the heifer section, selling a Limousin-cross heifer for £2,365.
Messrs S & W Maughan, Street House, sold a tremendous run of 24-month-old Aberdeen Angus bullocks, topping at £2,435 for a pair. Their impressive consignment of 11 bullocks averaged £2,302.
Messrs J C Thwaites & Co, Thorneycroft, sold dairy-bred British Blue bullocks to £2,305.
Messrs M A Crocker, Town End, sold 14-month-old Limousin heifers to £1,925 for a pen of three.
