Today we held our fortnightly sale of 63 OTM Cattle.
Once again plenty of buyers were around the ring with all classes mirroring last fortnights bonanza trade, the sale topped at 411.5ppk for a pure-bred, 5-year-old British Blue cow from Messrs JE Bellas & Son, Croft Ends Farm, purchased by Mr D Barker, with a much older cow from the same home achieving 369.5ppk/£3432.66.
A consignment of 3 Limousin X British Blue cows averaged £2705.63/352ppk from Messrs Lowis, Waterside House, topping at £3260.12/389.5ppk, purchased by Jewitt Meat Company.
A run of good, hard Limousin X feeding cows averaged £2059.00/335ppk from Messrs JA & CM Brown, Park House Farm, topping at £2705.63/352ppk.
Loads of demand amongst the Black & Whites, topping at £2491.95 for a superb 9-year-old Holstein Friesian from Messrs H & EM Hunter & Son, Cape Farm, weighing 898kg, achieving 277.5ppk, purchased by Mr G Chapman. This was closely followed with an 8-year-old Holstein Friesian, through the TB exempt section from Mr JR Tiplady, The Bramery, also purchased by Mr G Chapman.
A Dairy Shorthorn cow achieved £2081.19/259.5ppk from Messrs Wilson, Itonfield.

We also held our sale of Prime Cattle.
Prime cattle topped at £2600.13/387.5ppk for a Limousin X bullock, weighing 671kg from Messrs WE & B Wilson, Undercragg, purchased by R Pearson Wholesale Butcher.
A packet of lightweight cattle topped at £2184.57/391.5ppk for a Limousin steer from Messrs M Bindloss & Son, Shap Abbey, with this consignment averaging 382ppk/538kg.
A consignment of dairy-bred Aberdeen Angus bulls averaged £1985/324ppk from Messrs RM & LA Woodhouse, Howe Farm, topping at £2039.61/329.5ppk.
More clean cattle and prime bulls are required on a fortnightly basis to fulfil the demand of our regular buyers. Our next sale will be held on Monday 2nd March 2026
