Penrith & District Farmers Mart LLP held its fortnightly sale of 1041 store lambs on Monday. Another blistering sale with trade dearer on the fortnight with local farmers eager to purchase sheep. Topping the days trading at £144 came for a great pen of 3 Beltex lambs from M/s JG & H Miller, Smithy Garth with another pen from the same home of 17 achieving £132. Suffolk lambs soared to £140 for a pen of 9 from Mr G Ostle, Welpo Bridge Farm. Mule lambs caught the trade again here in Penrith with JH Little, Bank End Mill selling a pen of 26 at £136. A wholesale average of £108 was achieved and more are needed to fulfil demand here in Penrith. Our next sale will be held on Monday 31st August. Entries close at noon on Monday 24th August.
