Today we held our fortnightly sale of 58 cast cows and bulls.
A much brisker trade was witnessed throughout, with all buyers keen to purchase and all classes dearer. The sale topped at £3535.67 for a 10-year-old Limousin stock bull, weighing 1057kg from Messrs JM & JM Batty, Dryeavers Farm, purchased by Mr C Anderson.
A first-cross, 8-year-old, British Blue cow achieved £2863.50/287.5ppk from Messrs WM & JE Shuttleworth, Barbon Fell House. An OTM Limousin, weighing 636kg topped at 327.5ppk/£2082.90 from Messrs WE & B Wilson, Undercragg.
Black & White cows took the largest lift, especially the plainer end, with Messrs Wilson, Itonfield, realising 267.5ppk/£1883.20 for a Holstein Friesian, purchased by Mr G Chapman.
Parlour cows, through the TB exempt section, topped at £2162.10 for 899kg from Messrs MJ Dent, Catterlen Hall.
A Highland bull realised a mighty 297.5ppk/£2070.60 from Mr M Purdham, Gamblesby, selling to Mr D Holmes.

We also held our fortnightly sale of Prime Cattle.
A smaller show was forward with the sale topping at 344.5ppk/£1932.65 for a Limousin X Simmental heifer, weighing 561kg from Messrs Coulston, Hole House, purchased by Mr A Jarvis.
Dairy-bred heifers topped at 309.5ppk from Messrs JJ Henderson & Son, Park House, with an Aberdeen Angus, weighing 558kg, realising £1727.01.
More clean cattle and prime bulls are required on a fortnightly basis to fulfil the demand of our regular buyers. Our next sale will be held on Monday 8th June 2026.
