Today we held our monthly sale of 176 dairy cattle of all classes.
Another packed catalogue of cattle was forward for our monthly dairy sale, from all over the north of England and as far south as Halifax. The sale included several new vendors, offering genuine honest cattle worthy of any buyer’s attention. Another total clearance was witnessed, with vendors going home highly delighted, with trade not quite as bonkers as last months sale.
The sale topped at £3,350 for a tremendous pedigree Holstein heifer, giving 35 litres, calved 4-weeks from Messrs Fisher, Moss Thorn Farm, purchased by Messrs G & MM Dakin & Sons, Clitheroe, this home went on to sell three very well-presented heifers to average £3,083.30.
This was very closely followed at £3,100 for a very well put together heifer, correct in the udder, giving 35 litres, calved 3-weeks from Messrs DH & HM Horsley, Woodhouse.
Messrs W Williamson, Barrowmoor Farm, sold a consignment of 7 fabulous, correct, young British Friesian cows, giving 30 litres, 2-weeks calved to average £2,792.86, topping at £2,950 for a second calver, perfect in the udder, purchased by Ellis Bros, Warcop.

A second calved Dairy Shorthorn cow, Breckney Ruth 14 VG86 from Messrs P & CA Harrison, Breckney Hill, sold exceptionally well realising £3,100, a beautiful roaned cow with excellent conformation, purchased by Mr M Jackson, Thirsk.
There was plenty of demand for in-calf heifers, with Messrs JM & J Fisher & Daughters, Holme Wrangle, selling Ayrshires to £2,500. Messrs DW Cannon & Son, Low Abbey, also achieved £2,500 for an Ayrshire X Holstein.
Bulling heifers topped at £1,700 for a lovely sweet Dairy Shorthorn X Holstein Friesian from Messrs P & CA Harrison, Northumberland, purchased by JR Boothman, Burnley.
Altogether another very successful sale was achieved, with entries now required for our next sale on Friday 24th July, entries close promptly at Noon on Friday 17th July.
