On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly Sale of 213 Store Cattle & Feeding Bulls of all classes.
A busy ringside of buyers were present, still eager to purchase, with more cattle required to fulfil orders for all classes.
The sale topped at £1875 for a 22-month-old Limousin X bullock from Messrs JG & RW Nevinson & Son, High House Farm, purchased by Mr W Barker, this homes run of 4 cattle averaged £1815 and also topped the heifer section at £1835 for a British Blue.
A superb run of 11 Limousin bullocks and heifers, 14 to 16 months old, averaged £1609.55 from Messrs R & JM Ridley, Ranbeck, topping at £1765 for a heifer purchased by Mr R Dickinson.
Dairy-bred British Blue bullocks topped at £1625 from Messrs A Tiffin & Sons, Wham Head Farm, with this consignment averaging £1551.67.
Native cattle sold with great ease, with plenty of dairy-bred Aberdeen Angus & Hereford heifers achieving £1100 plus, topping at £1355 for an Angus from Messrs WE Strong & Partners, Midtown.
