On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly Sale of 344 Store Cattle & Feeding Bulls of all classes.
A great show of cattle was on offer, with something for everyone to buy. The sale topped at £1765 for a pen of three dairy-bred Aberdeen Angus bullocks from Messrs S & W Maughan, Street House, selling to Mr F Towers. This consignment of twelve bullocks averaged £1674.74. Aberdeen Angus cattle sold with great ease throughout the sale, with 49 bullocks selling to average £1360.92.
Dairy-bred Blue bullocks topped at £1755 for a single from Messrs A Tiffin & Son, Wham Head Farm. This same home jointly topped the heifer section at £1675 for a British Blue, both selling to Mr D Barker, Scarborough.
A very good consignment of 53 Limousin cross cattle, 14-15-months-old from Messrs M Bindloss & Son, Shap Abbey, sold to average £1444.62, topping at £1715 with a belting sixteen-month-old black Limousin bullock, selling to Messrs W Robshaw & Son, Tadcaster. Numerous cattle in this run sold for £1600 plus, with heifers topping at £1675 for a fifteen-month-old Limousin cross British Blue selling to Mr J J Crichton, Egremont.
All in all, a very successful sale was had from start to finish, with vendors going home highly delighted and surpassed all expectations.
