On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly Sale of 73 Store Cattle & Feeding Bulls of all classes.
As always, the summer sales prove to be the dearest. Topping at £1,705 for twenty-four-month-old dairy-bred Aberdeen Angus bullocks from Messrs S & W Maughan, Street House, bought by Mr D Barker. This consignment averaged £1602.21.
Heifers sold to a top of £1,435 for Limousins from Lamplugh farmer’s, Messrs E J Lister, Cockley Gill Farm, selling to Mr W Armstrong.
A consignment of mainly dairy-bred Aberdeen Angus and Hereford heifers, from W E Strong & Partners, Midtown Farm, 18-22-months-old averaged £1,296, topping at £1,375, selling to Mr D Whaite.
A ring full of nine Black & White bullocks, straight off the grass, from Messrs D W Burne & Son, Greenlands, achieved £1,195.
