On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of 49 OTM Cattle.

A very strong trade was witnessed in the cast cow ring with buyers looking for both meaty and grazing type cows.

The sale topped at 257.5ppk/£1848.85 for a ¾ bred Limousin cow from Messrs WE & B Wilson, Undercragg, purchased by Mr D Barker.

A 14-year-old Limousin cow achieved £1781.30/223.5ppk from Messrs G & JE Bell, Far Broom, with others from this home following closely at 217.5ppk/£1779.15.

British Friesian cows topped at 189.5ppk for a 6-year-old from Mr WH Brass, Low Row, realising £1453.47, this home also sold a 9-year-old cow to £1543.36/185.5ppk purchased by Jewitt Meat Ltd.

A rare British Blue stock bull topped at £2693.70/213.5ppk from Mr WH Brass, Low Row, purchased by Mr S McGimpsey. A Saler stock bull achieved £2393.76/197.5ppk from Messrs TJ & D Dixon, Shire Lodge, purchased by Mr Owain Llyr.
