New Fair Beef Breeding Cattle 200524

On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their annual “Newfair” sale of beef breeding cattle.

The Annual “Newfair” Sale was held and witnessed by a very busy ringside of buyers, ensuring all classes were good to sell. The sale consisted of all dairy bred heifers topping at £2900 for a British Blue cross heifer with a 4-week-old Limousin bull calf at foot, from first time customers C D Slinger & L J Eaton, Holme Farm, Sedbergh, selling to Mr T H Harrison, Sleddale Hall.

The annual consignment of Limousin Heifers out of British Friesian Cows with Limousin calves at foot from Messrs J D & F Wharton, Town Head, averaged £2575 topping at £2800 with a Limousin Heifer and a 4-month-old Hereford calf at foot, also selling to Mr T H Harrison.

All in all demand throughout the sale was strong, and consistently between £2500-£2700 for the Dairy-bred outfits.

Our next beef breeding sale will be the “Latter Fair” and will be held on Monday 17th June, entries close Noon Monday 10th June.
