Dairy Sale - 29.03.24
On Friday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their sale of 55 Dairy Cattle.
A really busy ringside of buyers were forward to a larger entry of locally bred Dairy cattle. The sale topped at £2150 from Messrs G & E A Harrison, Mount Clifton with a young sweet Holstein Friesian heifer giving 37 litres selling to Messrs T J & J M Powley, Blands Farm. With this consignment of both heifers & fresh calved cows averaged £2025.
Second calved cows in great order and confirmation from Messrs Turnbull, Monks House topped at £2100 also being purchased by Messrs Powley.
The Incalf Heifers section attracted customers from all over the Country, Halifax, West Yorkshire to Sandbach, Cheshire topping at £1740 for a superb, British Friesian 7-month Incalf to the Aberdeen Angus selling to Mr D Hancock, with this consignment of 11 averaging £1508.18.
Dairy Shorthorn’s from local breeder Messrs G A & D Dent, Winton House topped at 1550gns for a pair of in calf heifers in calf to sexed Dairy Shorthorn.
All in all the fresh heifers averaged £1803.36 up on most peoples expectations.
