On Friday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their sale of 38 Dairy Cattle.
The full catalogue entry was forward to a very busy ringside of buyers with all classes seeing spirited bidding and selling with ease. The sale comprised of mainly young fresh cows with all selling to average £1,963.64, topping at £2,600 for a pair of British Friesian X Holstein second calvers, giving 42-43 litres from Mr WR Wilson, South View, these were two excellently well-bred milky cows, both purchased by Mr HM Dent, East Farm, Darlington.
A consignment of 12 freshly calved heifers to 4th calvers averaged £1872.73 from Messrs G & EA Harrison, Mount Clifton.
Messrs EA & A Dodd, Roanstrees, sold a very good, strong Fleckvieh X British Friesian heifer to £2,200.
Dairy Shorthorns topped at £2,100 from Messrs GA & D Dent, Winton House, for lot 1, Winbrook Ruth 105, giving 28 litres, purchased by Mr AJ Hatton.
