On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their opening sale of 79 OTM Cattle.
A much larger offering of cast cows was forward to an extended ringside of buyers with all classes seeing a sharp rise, feeding cows sold with great ease.
The sale topped at 289.5ppk for a young Limousin X Blue Cow, weighing 603kgs realising £1745.69 from Messrs Raine, Fog Close purchased by Mr D Barker.
None farm assured 8-year-old Limousin cows from Messrs Harryman, Keskadale achieved 239.5ppk/£1583.10.
None Farm assured Dairy Bred British Blue Feeding Cows from Mr T H Harrison, Sleddale Hall achieved 195.5ppk/£1251.20 bought by Mr G H Capper.
Young British Friesian cows from Messrs C M & C S Chapplehow, High Grounds achieved 225.5ppk/£1165. Holstein cows out the parlour from Messrs H & E M Hunter, Berrier Head achieved £1410.06/165.5ppk, weighing 852kgs, purchased by Mr S McGimpsey. Closely followed at 163.5ppk/£1419.18 from Messrs Mallinson, Hallfield.
