On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of Prime Cattle.
A much larger entry of prime stock was forward with demand extremely strong for all classes. The sale topped at £1923.33/267.5ppk for a 20-month-old Limousin bull, weighing 719kg from Mr D Raine, Old Parks, purchased by R Pearson Wholesale Butchers. This consignment of 4 bulls averaged £1839.07/261ppk.
Handy weight bulls topped at £1671.88/267.5ppk, weighing 625kg from Messrs A & N Bennett, Hollins Farm.
Dairy-bred Montbeliarde bulls topped at 238.5ppk from Messrs JP & GJ Simpson, Knock Cross, realising £1624.50, purchased by Jewitt Meat Ltd.
Clean cattle topped at 279.5ppk/£1668.62 for a Limousin heifer, weighing 597kg from Messrs Raine, Fog Close, purchased by Mr R Medcalf, Halifax.
None-farm-assured dairy-bred Charolais bullocks topped at £1573.88/255.5ppk.
Further consignments are required on a fortnightly basis.
