Machinery Sale 171123

On Friday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP conducted their quarterly collective sale of tractors and machinery.

A grand total of 1631 lots went under the hammer with a clearance rate of 86% being achieved. The sale started at 9am and concluded at 6.55pm, with a record crowd, well in excess of 1,000 customers, coming through the gates. A total of 45 items sold over £10,000 with the larger value lots being the easiest to sell all day. Over 50 customers made the journey from both Southern and Northern Ireland. The sale topped at £40,000 for a Pottinger Torro 6010 Forage Box travelling from Ayr and ending up in North Wales. A further 95 entries sold in excess of £5,000.

Purchasers seemed very keen to buy, despite the recent decline in prices of second-hand machinery and tractors sold with ease. Topping at £37,000 was a Massey Ferguson 5712 - 17 plate - from local MF Dealers, heading over the water to Southern Ireland.

All sections sold well, right down to the plant items which attracted a lot of local trade as well. Mini diggers, in clean tidy condition, regularly made £8,000-£12,000.
