On Friday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their sale of 60 Dairy Cattle, including a herd dispersal on behalf of Messrs EA & A Dodd, Roanstrees, Newcastleton.

A very traditional entry of cattle was forward to an extremely busy ring of buyers, with purchasers keen to take home some genuine locally bred cattle.

A consignment of freshly calved British Friesian heifers from Mr DW Mallinson, Lodge Farm, topped at £2,200 with another closely following at £2,100 for two excellently well-presented heifers, giving 25 litres and 27 litres, purchased by Mr TJ & JM Powley, Blands Farm.

Holstein heifers topped at £2050 for a superb, square and correct heifer from Mr WR Wilson, South View, purchased by Mr J Stalker, Ratten Castle.

This sale incorporated a dispersal of mainly British Friesian cows and heifers from Messrs EA & A Dodd, Roanstrees, a consignment of genuine cattle topping at £1800 for a heifer coming to the end of her first lactation.

An organic Dairy Shorthorn topped at 2000gns for lot 34, Strickley Abigail 34, purchased by Messrs Warburton, Colby Laithes.
