On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of 337 Store Cattle of all classes.
A very mixed entry of store cattle was forward, with something for everyone. Buyers were keen to purchase, with every last beast competitively bid for.
The sale topped at £1945 for a twenty-one-month-old Limousin cross British Blue heifer from Messrs AD & FE Elliott, Askrigg Hall, purchased by Mr D Barker.
Dairy-bred British Blue heifers topped at £1675 from Messrs CM & CS Chappelhow, High Grounds, selling to Mr A Skelton. All heifers in the sale sold to average £1250.89.
All bullocks sold to average £1297.75, topping at £1935 for a twenty-two-month-old Limousin cross from Mr A Littleton, Demesne Farm, selling to Mr D Barker. This run of cattle averaged £1573.33.
A consignment of 30 twenty-month-old dairy-bred bullocks & heifers from WH Brass, Low Row, averaged a staggering £1556.33. This home sold dairy-bred British Blue bullocks to a top of £1755, and Hereford bullocks to £1655, selling to Mr F Towers.
Messrs HM & R Ivinson, Hole House, sold a consignment of dairy-bred British Blue bullocks to average £1513.57.
Yearling Limousin cross British Blue heifers topped at £1565 from Messrs E & R Brass & Son, Barnskew, closely followed at £1505 from the same home.
Another quality consignment of mainly Limousin heifers from Messrs R & EM Smithson, Bloan Farm, averaged £1675 for 22-24-months-old.
