Beef Breeding Cattle 220523

On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their annual “New Fair” sale of beef breeding cattle.

A very genuine entry of breeding cattle was forward to a bustling ringside of buyers, all eager to purchase, with numbers in short supply.

The sale topped at £3,200 for a superb British Blue heifer with a smart roaned heifer calf at foot from Messrs J & A Wear, Milburn Grange, purchased by Messrs Blake, Halfway Well. This consignment averaged £2730.

Messrs JD & F Wharton, Town Head Farm, sold their annual consignment of thirteen, straight and honest dairy-bred Limousin cross heifers with Limousin calves at foot to average £2,522, up £100 on the year. This run topped at £2,900 with a Limousin bull calf at foot, bought by Messrs Crozier & Langcake, High Moss.

Our next beef breeding sale will be the “Latter Fair” and will be held on Monday 19th June, entries close Noon Monday 12th June.
