On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of 68 OTM Cattle.
A larger entry of cast cows was forward, predominantly Holstein cows straight from the parlour. The sale topped at 247.5ppk for a young dairy-bred British Blue from Messrs TI Wetherell & Son, High & Low Buildings, realising £1794.38, purchased by Mr D Barker.
All cows forward averaged £1257.50, topping at £1846.78 for a 10-year-old Limousin X cow from Mr A Littleton, Demesne Farm, purchased by Mr I Roberts.
Holstein cows averaged £1200.07, topping at £1684.07 from Messrs Fisher, Yanwath Woodhouse, purchased by Mr L Fell. Messrs J & B Donald & Son, sold a 7-year-old parlour cow to 185.5ppk/£1522.96.
A young Holstein cow achieved 219.5ppk/£1209.45 from Messrs G & EA Harrison, Mount Clifton. Messrs H & EM Hunter & Son, Berrier, sold a 32-month-old Holstein to £1398.53/217.5ppk.
A Saler stock bull achieved £2586.49/203.5ppk from Messrs JE & DJ Hutchinson, Hebblethwaite Hall Farm, purchased by Mr Owain Llyr.
More cows are required on a fortnightly basis to fulfil demand. Our next sale will be held on Bank Holiday Monday, 8th May.
