On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of 58 OTM Cattle.
Most definitely the dearest trade ever seen here before with all sold averaging 190ppk. The sale topped at a new market record of 275.5ppk for a six-year-old, none-farm assured British Blue cow from S & A Ryder, Holme House, realising £1856.87 purchased by Mr Owain Llyr.
The whole sale averaged £1399.25, topping at £2469.71 for a ten-year-old, none-farm assured British Blue cow from Messrs JE Bellas & Son, Croft Ends Farm, with another from this home achieving £2072.53 for 911kg purchased by Mr D Barker, this consignment of five averaged £1856.79/213ppk.
Holstein heifers achieved an average of 207ppk/£1233.78 from Messrs TR & PE Little, Low Moor Dyke, topping at 209.5ppk/£1372.23. Parlour cows topped at 197.5ppk/£1670.85 for a seven-year-old, TB exempt cow from Skirwith Abbey, purchased by Mr L Fell.
A pure Jersey cow, weighing 601kg realised £982.64/163.5ppk from Messrs S & DC Bland, Abbott Lodge.
Cast Aberdeen Angus bullocks from Messrs E Hird, Park Head, topped at £1722.60/247.5ppk.
A superb well-bred Beef Shorthorn bull weighing 1254kg achieved 197.5ppk/£2476.65 from Messrs JE Bellas & Son, Croft Ends Farm.
