Dairy Sale 030223

On Friday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their sale of 62 Dairy Cattle.
A smaller show of freshly calved cattle was forward with quality in short supply. The sale topped at £2400 for a superb second calved cow, giving 40 litres from Messrs M Ridsdale & Son, Yew Tree Farm, purchased by Messrs TJ & JM Powley, Blands Farm.

A fantastic entry of in-calf heifers gathered a lot of interest from all over the county, with a consignment of 18 British Friesian, springing to calve from Messrs Strong, Low Brow, to average £1482.78, topping at £1850, in-calf to the British Friesian purchased by Mr WH Brass, Low Row, Crosby Ravensworth.

A consignment of 9 Holstein bulling heifers, 16 to 17-month-old from Messrs EE & RA Huddleston, Whitbarrow Farm, averaged £890, topping at £980 purchased by Mr P Dakin.
