Rearing Calves & Stirks 030223
On Friday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of 193 Rearing Calves and Stirks.
Another great entry of cattle forward for our growing fortnightly sale, trade was very strong once again with well-grown bull calves flying.
The sale topped at £800 for a cracking seven-month-old Limousin cross heifer from Miss Danielle Fisher, Midtown Farm, purchased by Mr J Field. This was closely followed at £760 for a ten-month-old Fleckvieh bullock from Messrs EA & A Dodd, Roanstrees, purchased by Mr J Holliday, Hunsonby.
Mr TW Fawcett, Little Blencowe Farm, sold a consignment of 15 dairy-bred Hereford bullocks and heifers, 8 to 10-months old to average £545.
A fantastic selection of calves on offer today, topping at £550 on two occasions, firstly for a British Blue bull from J & JM Fisher, Holme Wrangle, and secondly for a British Blue bull from Messrs JJ Henderson, Park House. Limousin bulls closely followed at £530 from Messers Graves, The Elephant.
Some brilliant dairy bull calves on offer today, topping at £295 for a Fleckvieh from Messrs EA & A Dodd, Roanstrees.
Heifer calves topped at £395 for a British Blue from J & JM Fisher, Holme Wrangle.
