On Wednesday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of 300 store hoggs.

Another small show of store hoggs was forward with well covered types still in strong demand. The sale topped at £95 for a pair of strong Suffolk hoggs from Mr M Trotter, High Greenrigg Farm, purchased by Mr J Linsley. Good Continental hoggs remain in high demand, topping at £91 on two occasions firstly for a pen of six from Mr M Trotter and secondly for a pen of six from Mr R Nettleton, New Rent Farm.
Messrs TE Clarke, Howgill Castle, sold a run of 44 lovely Mule hoggs to average £73, topping at £82 for a pair.
