Rearing Calves & Stirks 111122

On Friday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of 116 Rearing Calves and Stirks.

A smaller show was forward to a great ringside of buyers eager to purchase calves over two months, with quality easy to sell. The sale topped at £580 for a pen of 3 six-month-old Limousin X bull stirks from Messrs Taylor, Hopestead Farm, Berwick, purchased by Mr B Atkinson.

A lovely packet of 7 Black & White bulls achieved £440 per head from Messrs Mattocks, Auldby Farm, purchased by Mr J Little.

Calves with strength were great to sell, topping at £430 for a lovely three-month-old Limousin bull from Messrs M & K Palmer, Grange Farm, with this consignment of eight calves averaging £360.

Messrs AD & FE Elliott, Askrigg Hall, sold a fantastic six-week-old British Blue bull to £400, purchased by Messrs J & A Wear, Milburn Grange.
