Dispersal sale of Dairy Cows on behalf of JH Capstick, Lockholme Hall

Buyers travelled from all over the north of England to purchase British Friesian bred cattle from a genuine herd, Messrs JH Capstick, Lockholme Hall, Ravenstonedale, showing cows with great temperament and such a great health status with the herd being closed for 29 years. Demand and trade was a fantastic reflection of the quality and stocksmanship in these cattle. The whole consignment of 25 averaged £1689.58.

The sale topped at £2500 on two occasions, firstly for lot 1 a freshly calved 3rd calver, square on all four with great vigour and secondly for lot 13, a red cow calved early october, oozing class and correct in every way both purchased by Messrs I & ME Askew, Raw Head, New Hutton.

A star of the sale was most definitely lot 25, a 15-year-old hard wearing cow, due to calve to the Limousin, achieving £1550, purchased by Messrs A & B Edmondson, Penruddock.
