Store Lambs 121022
On Wednesday Penrith & District Farmers Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of 1000 Store Lambs.
Another fabulous show of store lambs was forward, with a great ringside of buyers eager to purchase. The sale topped at £119 for a pen of 3 lovely Beltex X lambs from Messrs JE Bellas & Son, Croft Ends Farm, purchased by Messrs G & JE Bell, Far Broom, with this run of 38 Continental & Suffolk lambs averaging £95.84.
JA & FL Brownrigg, The Croft, sold a great run of pure Texel ewe lambs to top at £116, purchased by Mr K Hunt, this run of 30 lambs averaged £101.
Cheviot lambs topped at £81 for a pen of seven from Muncaster Home Farm. Mule lambs sold well, topping at £79 for a pen of twelve from Mr S Robinson, Thrang Cragg.
Scotch Blackfaced lambs are gaining popularity, topping at £72 from Mr C Main, Corner Cottage.
