Crossing Bluefaced Leicester Sale - 02.10.22
Our Third Annual Show & Sale of Crossing Bluefaced Leicester’s was held on Sunday Evening 2nd October 2022 at 5pm, kindly sponsored by Peter Horn Mobile Sheep Dipping.
A marvellous entry of both breeding rams and females were forward to a very busy ringside of buyers travelling from all parts of the UK to take advantage of the quality and the noted crossing lines forward for sale.
Champion honours went to the Lord family from West Dowgill with their number one shearling ram by the L7 Riddings and out of F52 Hewgill, a very correct modern sheep achieving £9000 purchased jointly, by Mr S Procter and Messrs I & P Brown. A sale average of all shearlings sold averaged £965.91.
Ram Lambs averaged £852.67, topping at £5300 from Messrs S Allan & Son, Greenhow, Dufton with lot 125, sired by the M1 Smearsett out of a Highberries H2. A very smart clean lamb, taking the eye of several local breeders’ eyes, purchased by Mr M Benn.
After selling a great run of mule gimmer lambs and their stock catching the eye of local buyers, Messrs G T Birkett, Lonscales achieved £2800, for lot 25 sired by H9 Hewgill selling to Mr R Hayton, Asby Grange.
Females sold to a sharper trade with customers looking for stock sheep, topping the section at £580 went to Mr J H Little, Bank End Mill, also achieving 3rd prize in the show section to Mr C J Purdham.
