On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly Sale of 201 Store Cattle.
As store cattle numbers tighten the demand seems to be strengthening, with four cattle achieving over £2000 per head, topping at £2255 for a Limousin cross British Blue bullock, 20-months-old, from Mr B Duffton, Aberdeen, purchased by Mr W Barker.
A pair of dairy-bred British Blue bullocks, 20-months-old topped at £1686 from Messrs HM & R Ivinson & Sons, Hole House, Ousby, with this consignment averaging £1525.
Heifers topped at £2000 for a Limousin cross British Blue, with numerous others in excess of £1200 per head, way in front of other markets across the country.
