Rearing Calves & Stirks 040222

On Friday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of 87 Rearing Calves and Stirks.

A slightly smaller show of all classes was forward to plenty of demand around the ringside, the sale topped at £750 for a seven-month-old, suckler-bred Limousin bullock from Messrs AJ & J Fell, Mosedale End, purchased by GT & CA Blezard, Lancaster.

Younger Aberdeen Angus stirks, out of Holstein cows, from Messrs JP Holliday, Clifton Hall, regularly achieved over £450 per head, topping at £510, purchased by Mr B Atkinson.

A smaller show of younger calves was forward, with buyers looking for more strength. A cracking nine-week-old Limousin bull calf achieved £380 from Messrs Wilson, Street Head, purchased by Mr P Bousfield.
