On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their opening 2022 sale of 120 Store Cattle.
Store Cattle achieved a much dearer trade than ever expected with demand very strong to a busy ringside of buyers.
The sale topped at £1425 with a Limousin X Bullock, 19mth old from Mr D Smith, Far Close purchased by Mr D Barker. This run of well-bred cattle averaged £1337.50. Heifers topped at £1215, from Mr P Wilson, The Wath with a British Blue X Charollais.
Some of the dearest cattle of the day would be some yearling dairy bred British Blue bullocks, from Messrs J A & M E Mawson, Sproat Ghyll, who’s consignment of 15 averaged £1002.33 topping at £1035 for a pen of 4.
Demand for store cattle of all classes is exceptionally strong, with this being the case, entries are advised for our next sale -The January Bonanza on Monday 17th January 2022, entries close Monday 10th at 12noon.
