On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of Prime Cattle.
A larger show of prime bulls was forward to an extended ringside of buyers. The sale topped at 237.5ppk for a Limousin cross bull, weighing 775kg from Mr D Raine, Old Parks, realising £1840.63, purchased by Mr M Helliwell, with this run of bulls averaging £1649/227ppk.
Handy-weight bulls from Messrs Raine, Fog Close, achieved 234.5ppk on two occasions, totalling £1516.69 & £1496.11, purchased by R Pearson Wholesale.
Clean heifers topped at 265.0ppk for a Limousin weighing 640kg from Messrs RW & G Dickinson, High Knipe, purchased by Cocklakes Farm Shop.
