Our Second Annual show & sale of Crossing Bluefaced Leicesters was held on Sunday Evening 3rd October 2021 at 5pm, kindly sponsored by H Pigney & Son, Appleby.
One of the largest ringsides of buyers was forward so far this backend with a great atmosphere.
The buzz of the crowd followed straight on into the trade with a near 100% clearance.
• Shearlings and Aged Rams averaged £940.57.
• Ram Lambs averaged £900.00.
• Females averaged £437.50.
Champion Honours went to Messrs WM Hutchinson, Kirkby Redgate, with a superb, modern, classy lamb sired by M1 Skeughdale, and backing his judgement it was purchased by the judge Mr Shaun Procter, Villa Farm.
The sale topped at £5000 for the Reserve Champion, lot 25, a shearling ram from Messrs Lord, Hewgill, a very correct sheep with power and strength by the M39 Hewgill selling to regular purchaser Mr C Lowis, Waterside House. The same home sold a colourful, classy tup lamb for £2000 to Messrs Richardon, Bewaldeth.
Next up at £2000 was a tup lamb sired by Highberries N1 from Mr J H Little, Bank End Mill, after selling a cracking run of gimmer lambs local vendors ensured him a strong trade, selling to Mr Hickson, Beck Grange, Caldbeck. The Same home achieved 1st placed female with a superb shearling sired by L2 Belmont our of a Redgate Ewe selling to Mr C Purdham, Croft House.
All in all, a fantastic sale was had, with vendors reporting returns being up £200-£400 more on previous sales.
