Store Lambs 180821
On Wednesday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of 800 store lambs.
An overall sale average of £78.78 was achieved with all vendors highly delighted with their returns. Numbers were way short of buyers requirements. The sale topped at £106 from SD & CM Hoodless, Highfield Farm, Ruckcroft, purchased by Mr J Marrs.
Plenty of better bred lambs sold in excess of £90, with Messrs TA & J Brownrigg, How Hill, selling a ring full of £96, purchased by Messrs W & SE Dickinson & Son.
Mule lambs definitely sold to a much sharper trade, up £5-£6 per head, topping at £77 for a pen of 30 from Mr W Nattrass, Low House, Garrigill, purchased by Mr J Ellwood.
