On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of 80 Store Cattle.
Numbers were tight as expected for the time of year. The sale averaged £1101.62 overall, demand was very strong and many more are required to fulfil buyers requirements.
The sale topped at £1375 for British Blue cross Friesian bullocks from Messrs S Allan & Sons, Greenhow, this home also sold twenty-month-old Friesian bullocks to £1185.
Heifers topped at £1325 for a nineteen-month-old Simmental from Pond Farm, purchased by Mr R Dickinson.
Native-bred Aberdeen Angus bullocks, out of Holstein cows, achieved £1235 from Mr TJ Noble, Mellgates. Hereford bullocks, out of New Zealand Friesain cows, achieved £1125 & £1115 from Dacre Banks Farm.
