On Wednesday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held a sale of 500 Ewes, Shearlings & Hoggs with Lambs at Foot & Geld Gimmer Hoggs.

Our final sale of the year of ewes and lambs met a mighty fine trade with customers galore, ensuring prices were miles past vendors’ expectations.
The sale topped at £162 a head for a pen of Beltex X Texel Hoggs with outstanding single Beltex Lambs at foot from Messrs TF & GL Pollock, Wreay Hall Farm, selling to Messrs JS & K Wilson & Son. Twins from the same home averaged a staggering £120.
Mr G Fisher, Midtown Farm sold a run of full-mouthed Texel & Cheviot Ewes to average an outstanding £95.91, topping at £112.
Mr J Twentyman, Applegarth sold an exceptional great ring full of 15 Geld Mule Hoggs realising £160 a head and a pen of five Texel crosses at £156.
