On Wednesday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of Breeding Sheep.

Another good show of ewes and lambs was forward to a larger ringside of buyers ensuring all classes achieved previous high returns.

The sale topped at £111 for a pen of Texel ewes with single lambs at foot from Mary Peel, Oakdene, purchased by Mr R Little.

A cracking run of 48 Texel cross Scotch Mule ewes and Texel cross lambs achieved an unbelievable average of £98.88, topping at £101 per life from Messrs JG & LM Kindleysides, Wickerslack.

Mr J Campbell, Town Head, Croglin, sold a ring full of Mule shearlings with young Texel lambs at foot to realise £98 per head.

Many more ewes and lambs are required for our sale in a fortnight, with demand growing every sale.
