On Wednesday, Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held a special sale of In-lamb Breeding Sheep.
The opening sale of Breeding Ewes went off well with demand being strong. Loads of buyers were forward with many going home empty handed. The sale topped at £270 ahead twice, firstly for a single shearling scanned for twins selling to Miss C Hunter and secondly for a pen of ten, all shearlings, due the 1st April onwards selling to be Mr B Fell, Bassenthwaite, all from Messrs E A & W Strong, Ploveriggs with this consignment averaging £238.31.
M/s G W Longrigg & Sons, Breaks Hall sold a run of Texel X Mule 5 Shears and Mule 3 Shears to average a staggering £182.46 topping at £195 ahead for twenty-eight all due 28th February onwards.
Broken mouthed Cheviots from Messrs J M & M A Dawson, Greystone House sold to £130 ahead scanned twins selling to Mr B Brass.
