On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of 45 OTM Cattle.
Demand throughout the sale was very strong with all buyers keen to purchase and numbers well short of buyers’ requirements. The sale topped at 231.5ppk for a superb 8-year-old Limousin cow, weighing 867kg from Messrs FI & ME Little, Helm Croft, realising £2007.11, purchased by Mr D Barker.
Stock bulls topped at £2077.72/204.5ppk for a Limousin from Messrs IR & OM Wilson, Highbeckside, purchased by Jewitt Meat Company.
A large offering of Black & Whites was forward, proving very good to sell, topping at 195.5ppk for a 10-year-old British Friesian from Messrs Armstrong, Highrigg, purchased by Pickstock Telford, with this consignment averaging £1199.50/186ppk.
A 7-year-old Holstein parlour cow achieved £1374.97/179.5ppk from Messrs H & EM Hunter & Son, Berrier, purchased by Mr L Fell.
Mr J Findlay, Moorside Farm, sold a consignment of Normande cows to top at £1428.75/187.5ppk for a 6-year-old cow.
