On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly Sale of 275 Store Cattle & Feeding Bulls of all classes.
Trade continues to be very strong with younger cattle being sharper on the previous fortnight. The sale topped at £1885 for a well-fleshed Limousin X bullock from Messrs Stamper, Harrot Hill Farm, this consignment of 4 sold to average £1802.
Heifers topped at £1855 for a Limousin X from Mr JD Bowman, Croft House, with this home selling others to £1765.
Mr J Findlay, Moorside Farm, sold a run of 6 Normande & Simmental bullocks to average £1576.
Dairy sired stores still very easy to sell with Montbeliarde bullocks topping at £1355, with a pen of 3 realising £1345 from Messrs D Burne, Town End Farm.
Black & Whites topped at £1275 for a pair from Messrs JW Watson, Whygill Head.
First-time consignor Messrs GB & EA Metcalfe & Sons, Holme House, Carnforth, sold a great run of 20 well-fleshed, 13–14-month-old British Blue X stores to average £994, topping at £1075 for a pen of 3 bullocks.
