OTM Cattle 260224
On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of 76 OTM Cattle.
A larger offering of cast cows was forward with all classes strongly bid for and showing a rise in trade. The sale topped at £2555.75/277.5ppk for a 921kg Limousin Cow from Messrs R & JM Ridley, Ranbeck, purchased by Mr Owain Llyr.
A Limousin X British Blue cow realised £2091.69/274.5ppk from Messrs Richardson, Low Garth, purchased by Mr W Barker.
A young Limousin stock bull achieved £2192.58/234.5ppk from Messrs EJ & RJ Wear, Howe Green, purchased by Mr S Helliwell.
Black & Whites sold to a much sharper trade, topping at £1413.45/170.5ppk for an 8-year-old Holstein cow, straight out the parlour from Skirwith Abbey. Plenty of OTM Holstein heifers achieved in excess of 200ppk, topping at 225.5ppk from Messrs J Stalker, Ratten Castle.
A run of 10 hard feeding cows averaged a staggering £1380.65 from Messrs M Bindloss & Son, Shap Abbey, topping at £1676/209.5ppk for a 15-year-old British Blue.
