On Friday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their opening sale of 2024, with 185 Rearing Calves and Stirks forward.
A great sale to start off the year, with quality continuing to sell with ease. The sale topped at £805 for a lovely 7-month-old Limousin bull stirk from Mr Awde, The Old Vicarage, with this home also selling a pair of Limousin bulls to £790.
Messrs J Jackson & Sons, Frizington Parks Farm, sold a consignment of dairy-bred bull stirks, topping at £690 for a 6-month-old British Blue.
A lovely consignment of pure Friesian bulls from Messrs Mattocks, Aulby Farm, topped at £600 for a pen of 8.
The calf section topped at £610 for an outstanding Limousin bull calf from Mr DW Mallinson, Lodge Farm, this home also sold a Friesian bull calf to £260.
British Blue calves topped at £405 for a 6-week-old bull from Mr JR Tiplady, The Bramery.
