On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of 64 OTM Cattle.
The demand for cast stock continues to grow with all classes achieving some fine returns. The sale topped at 277.5ppk/£2353.20 for an eight-year-old British Blue X cow, weighing 848kg from Messrs G & JE Bell, Far Broom, purchased by Mr Owain Llyr, this was closely followed by a thirteen-year-old British Blue cow achieving £2295.97/261.5ppk from the same home.
A nine-year-old, TB exempt Limousin X cow, weighing 867kg achieved £1885.73/217.5ppk from Messrs EJ Ivinson & Sons, Skelling Farm.
All Holstein cows forward averaged £1137.45/165ppk, topping at £1642.05/184.5ppk for a parlour cow weighing 890kg from Messrs Fisher, Yanwath Woodhouse, purchased by Pickstocks Telford Ltd. Messrs H & EM Hunter & Son, Cape Farm, sold a very consistent run of fed Holstein parlour cows to average £1509.09/179ppk. A nine-year-old TB exempt Holstein cow achieved £1419.41/188.5ppk from Messrs Hayton, Penny Hill, purchased by Mr L Fell.
A Limousin stock bull realised £2162.55/225.5ppk from Messrs DH & ER Strong, Well House, purchased by Mr Owain Llyr.
