On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their Annual January Bonanza sale of 501 Store Cattle.
A wonderful show of strength and shape throughout the sale with all bullocks sold to average £1236.67. The sale topped at £1955 for a twenty-one-month-old Limousin cross bullock from Messrs DW & TA Bell, High Dyke Farm, purchased by Mr D Barker.
A twenty-six-month-old suckler-bred Aberdeen Angus bullock realised £1815 from Messrs A & S Robley, Nelson Hill Farm.
Plenty of Dairy-bred cattle sold in excess of £1600, topping at £1755 for a Charolais bullock from Messrs HM & R Ivinson, Hole House, this run averaged £1545. A pen of four British Blue bullocks from this home achieved £1655.
Messrs B & DA Bousfield, Glaslyn House, sold dairy-bred British Blue bullocks to £1675, selling to Mr F Towers.
Plenty of heifers sold in excess of £1500, with all sold to average £1213.29, topping at £1815 for a twenty-three-month-old British Blue X Limousin from Messrs R & EM Smithson, Bloan Farm, selling to Mr D Barker.
Dairy-bred heifers topped at £1585 for an eighteen-month-old Aberdeen Angus from Messrs HM & R Ivinson & Sons, Hole House, selling to Mr L Skelton.
Dairy-bred Limousin heifers sold to a top of £1505, for a pen of three from Messrs TJ & JM Powley, Blands Farm.
