Our opening sale of Breeding Sheep went off with a bang with Mr W H Raine, Ravenwood Cottage, selling a run of 2-3 shear Mule cross Continental ewes to average £157.57, topping at £225 for a pure Suffolk Ewe. A pen of fifteen Mule 2-Shear ewes achieved £156, purchased by Mr M Heath.
A much larger show of store lambs was forward to a complete ringside of buyers, with a pen of twenty-one Texel cross Lambs from Messrs T A & J Brownrigg, How Hill, achieving £85 ahead selling to Mr W Gribbon.

Penrith Auction Mart is operated by Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP, a group of local farmers and other interested people, who took over the day to day operation from Penrith Farmers’ & Kidd’s in 2002.

The stock is drawn from the fertile Eden Valley of Cumbria, the Pennines to the east and the large area of Lakeland hills to the west.
