On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly Sale of 366 Store Cattle & Feeding Bulls.
Another great entry of store cattle was forward with trade showing very little signs of letting up, with weathered cattle proving easier to sell.
Topping today’s sale at £1,825 was a cracking Limousin cross heifer from Messrs Wales, Thackwood. This home’s run of ten cattle sold to average £1590.
Bullocks topped at £1695 for an Aberdeen Angus from Messrs DG & LM Strong, Sleagill House.
Messrs D & J Errington, Annfield Farm, sold a lovely Hereford heifer to £1695.
Messrs D W Burne & Son, Greenlands, sold four cracking Black & White bullocks to realise £1315 per head.
Messrs James, Melmerby Mill, sold a lovely run of 26 dairy-bred 15 and 16-month-old Limousin bullocks & heifers, to average £1051.
Many more cattle could have been sold to the vendor’s advantage.
