OTM Cattle 091023
On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of 77 OTM Cattle.
Cast cows came forward in greater numbers with meat proving very good to sell. The sale topped at 267.5ppk/£2289.80 for a pure-bred British Blue cow from Messrs P & MR Carruthers, Raw Foot, purchased by Mr Owain Llyr.
A 10-year-old fed Limousin cow achieved £2167.43/253.5ppk from Messrs G & JE Bell, Far Broom, purchased by Mr D Barker.
A younger Limousin X cow from Messrs IS &CA Mounsey, Town Head, achieved £1500.01/245.5ppk.
Holstein cows out the parlour topped at £1278.23/148.5ppk from Messrs G & EA Harrison, Mount Clifton, purchased by Mr L Fell.
A first cross Limousin cow, weighing 949kg, achieved £1826.83/192.5ppk from Messrs TE Clarke, Howgill Castle.
Demand throughout the sale was very strong with buyers keen to purchase, more numbers are required on a fortnightly basis. Our next sale will be held on Monday 23rd October.
