Rearing Calves & Stirks 290923
On Friday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of 258 Rearing Calves and Stirks.
A great show of calves and stirks were on offer, topping at £790 twice, firstly for a cracking 6-month-old British Blue bull from Mr AP Mason, Looking Flatt. Secondly for a Holstein bull stirk from Messrs RJ & FM Grierson, Musgrave Hall, both purchased by Mr R Field, with this home also topping the heifers at £640 for a 14-month-old Belted Galloway, purchased by Mr J Little.
Messrs Mattocks, Auldby Farm, sold a fabulous packet of 8 pure Friesian bulls, 10-months-old to £640 per head.
A large entry of young calves was forward, topping at £545 for a lovely Limousin bull, 4-month-old from Mr DW Mallinson, Lodge Farm, purchased by Mr C Hebson.
Messrs RW & AJ Jackson, Clarks Farm, sold a pair of lovely 4-week-old Limousin bulls to £400.
Mr C Dent, Bridge End, showed a great run of calves with Aberdeen Angus bulls, in high demand, topping at £360 and Montbeliarde bulls realising £245.
