On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of 51 OTM Cattle.
A much improves cast cow trade was witnessed, with all buyers very keen to purchase making all classes dearer on the fortnight.
The sale topped at £1742.83 for a 6-year-old Limousin X cow, weighing 794kg (219.5ppk) from Messrs Wood, Crosby Lodge, purchased by Mr D Barker.
A consignment of fed cows from Messrs G & JE Bell, Far Broom, averaged 228ppk/£1643.40, topping at 233.5ppk for a 5-year-old Limousin.
OTM heifers topped at 217.5ppk/£1611-68 for a Longhorn X from TW Bell & Son, Hill Top.
A 7-year-old Holstein parlour cow, weighing 798kg, achieved £1400.49/175.5ppk from Messrs DW Cannon & Son, Low Abbey, with this home also selling others at 179.5ppk.
A 9-year-old Aberdeen Angus stock bull achieved 189.5ppk/£1646.70 from Mr TJ Noble, Mellgates, purchased by Pickstocks Telford.
A consignment of 6 none-farm-assured OTM store heifers topped at 239.5ppk/£1247.79 for a dairy-bred Limousin from Grahamsfield Farm.
