Rearing Calves & Stirks 180823
On Friday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of 150 Rearing Calves and Stirks.
All classes of calves and stirks were met with high interest, the sale topped at £760 for a British Blue bull stirk from Messrs GL Armstrong & Sons, Blunderfield East, purchased by Mr R Field.
JW Vevers, Moss Knowe Farm, sold a 10-month-old British Blue heifer to £655.
Mr TW Fawcett, Little Blencowe Farm, sold a consignment of 10-month-old Hereford heifers to top at £590.
Calves continue to fly, topping at £510 for a cracking 12-week-old Limousin bull from Messrs CM & CS Chappelhow, High Grounds, this home also sold an 8-week-old Hereford heifer to £350. Numerous good types of calves easily sold in excess of £400. Heifers topped at £470 for a lovely Charolais from Messrs JAH Walton & Son, Bank View, purchased by Mr A Dawson.
Black & White calves topped at £255 for a pen of three bulls from Messrs GL Armstrong & Son, Blunderfield East.
