Store Cattle Show & Sale 140823

On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly Sale of 345 Store Cattle & Feeding Bulls, this included a prize show and sale for the bullocks and heifers.

The pre-sale show was expertly judged by John Little, Penrith, who awarded the champion rosette to a cracking Limousin cross bullock from Mr B Walton, Goodlie Hill Farm, this beast later went on to realise £2000, purchased by Messrs R F Towers, Lancaster.
Reserve honours went to the first prize heifer from Messrs Hodgson, Woodfoot for a Limousin cross, which later sold for £1480, selling to Messrs J & J Mather, Kelso.

Demand exceeded expectation with a wonderful show of cattle forward. Messrs D W & T A Bell, High Dyke Farm sold a consignment of nine Limousin X British Blue Bullocks to average £1607.22, topping at £1865.

A super Limousin X British Blue Heifer, 26-month-old from Mr A Littleton, Demesne achieved £1735, selling to Mr James Mather.

A consignment of eleven Limousin X Heifers, 15-month-old from Messrs R & E Holmes, The Green averaged a staggering £1492.27, topping at £1615 for a pair selling to Messrs W Ridley.

Dairy bred Aberdeen Angus heifers topped at £1485 for a 22-month-old from Messrs N M Strong, Street House selling to Mr A Skelton, this home also sold Montbeliarde bullocks to £1395.

Demand all day was very strong and forward to a very busy ringside of buyers, with all extremely keen to purchase. Entries are required for our next sale on Bank Holiday Monday, 28th August 2023.
