On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of 50 OTM Cattle.
The cast cow trade is still holding very well with flesh in short supply. The sale topped at £1736.13/237.5ppk for an 8-year-old Limousin cow, weighing 731kgs from Messrs Hodgson, Woodfoot, purchased by Mr D Barker.
A well-fed Limousin cow, weighing 834kgs from Messrs WE & B Wilson, Undercragg, realised 187.5ppk/£1647.15.
A young Limousin cow from Messrs Taylor & Fell, Fell End, achieved 237.5ppk, totalling £1586.50.
Young Holstein cows topped at 197.5ppk/£1232.40 from Messrs JG & LM Kindleysides, Wickerslack, Shap. A none-farm-assured, 10-year-old pure Highland cow topped at 170.5ppk/£949.17 from Dalvorich Cottage.
Demand is very strong and more numbers are required on a fortnightly basis to fulfil demand. Our next sale will be held on Bank Holiday Monday 28th August.
