On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of 52 OTM Cattle.
National demand seems to be falling, nevertheless prices held exceptionally well throughout with the expected drop in trade not being witnessed in our centre.
The sale topped at 264.5ppk for a young Limousin cow from Messrs M Bindloss & Son, Shap Abbey, weighing 686kg realising £1814.47, purchased by Mr Owain Llyr.
A none-farm-assured Highland cow, weighing 815kg achieved £1348.83 from Mr C Maclennan, Dalvorich Cottage, purchased by Mr D Barker.
A young Holstein cow, weighing 640kg, topped at 197.5ppk from Messrs Sowerby, Townhead Farm. A Holstein parlour cow achieved £1395.45/157.5ppk from Skirwith Abbey.
Cast bulls topped at £1915.90/195.5ppk for a Limousin from Mr GE Harker, Murton Hall, purchased by Mr Owain Llyr.
Demand is very strong and more numbers are required on a fortnightly basis to fulfil demand. Our next sale will be held on Monday 14th August.
