On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of 40 OTM Cattle.
A much tighter show of cast cows was forward with all sold averaging 191ppk, topping at £2154.98/243.5ppk for a 10-year-old Limousin X British Blue cow, weighing 885kg from Messrs M Bindloss & Son, Shap Abbey, purchased by Mr Owain Llyr, with this consignment averaging 233ppk.
A British Blue X cow weighing 610kg achieved 257.5ppk, realising £1570.75 from J Wearmouth, Martindale Farm, purchased by Mr Owain Llyr.
Black & White cows topped at 213.5ppk from Messrs G & EA Harrison, Mount Clifton, realising £1184.93, purchased by Mr L Fell.
None-farm assured Beef Shorthorns achieved £1436.45/205.5ppk from Mr GA Lambert, Kendal.
A Holstein stock bull achieved 179.5ppk/£1809.36 from Messrs J Stalker, Ratten Castle, purchased by Mr S Helliwell.
